For me, new sculptures begin as small clay models.
Many of them end up in the clay bucket.
But sometimes, when I fall in love with a new form, it stays.
Each sculpture is an answer to a question
I did not yet know.
In my work I return again and again to the same theme:
the end of life and the need to say goodbye.
That is why I search for forms of continuity —
not an ending, but an expansion.
This work is about listening.
Listening to yourself.
Listening to another.
Listening to what the universe might be trying to tell us.
The sculpture carries several layers within it:
it is at once a shell, an ear and a vagina —
forms that open, receive and connect.
Perhaps listening is ultimately that:
the ability to truly receive.
